Lipper FMI

Lipper FMI is a mutual fund market analysis and research publishing company specialising in all aspects of the domestic, pan-European and cross-border fund marketplaces. Against a background of continual change in mutual fund markets, Lipper FMI'’s objectives are to overcome fragmented data and market opacity problems and to share latest insights into marketplace complexities.

Lipper FMI’s products fall into two key areas: data services and publications. The online data services track approximately 30,000 funds monthly, providing asset managers with invaluable trend and market intelligence. In addition, they form the foundation on which Lipper FMI’s publication services are built.

Mauro Baratta & Bella Caridade-Ferreira

Mauro is Business Development & Project Director. He has been involved in the research and analysis of the European fund industry for the last 11 years. He started his career working at Lipper and was one of the architects behind the creation of the Global Fund Analyser database. In January 2002 Mauro joined FMI Fund Market Information Ltd (the fore-runner of Lipper FMI) and helped to create and develop SalesWatch and FundFile. Mauro has overall responsibility for Lipper FMI's database services.

Bella is Publisher and Principal Editor. She has 11 years’ experience in the research and analysis of the asset management industry. Before joining Lipper FMI she worked for a London-based independent investment consulting firm where she specialised in market entry strategies for retail and institutional asset managers. In 2001 she joined Rodney and Diana in their research partnership prior to the joint venture with FERI Trust. Bella has overall responsibility for Lipper FMI’s editorial content and publications.

Diana Mackay & Rodney Williams

Diana is a recognised expert on Europe’s mutual fund markets. She is now responsible for a new body of data and research to aid fund management groups develop their strategies for gathering assets in Europe’s diverse markets. Principal amongst these projects is SalesWatch — a confidential benchmarking service used by Europe’s leading cross-border groups and FundFile a monthly database tracking the assets, sales and corporate histories of Europe’s 30,000 mutual funds, and numerous reports that interpret and forecast industry developments.

She has more than 15 years’ experience of monitoring the development of the European markets and has acted as an expert witness to the European Parliament’s deliberations on the impact of Ucits. She was a member of the European Commission’s Asset Management Working Group and is a regular speaker at Fund Forum and other industry events. 

Rodney’s career spans stock broking, financial journalism, mutual fund creation, marketing and administration. He is a former member of the London Stock Exchange and holds investment manager qualification. 

He was one of the founders and long-term architects of Flemings Ucits business expansion. After 11 years in Luxembourg working for both Flemings and Henderson/Cogent he returned to London in 2000 to co-found a fund market research business which subsequently joint ventured with FERI Trust GmbH, one of Europe’s leading fund analysis and wealth management companies, to create FERI Fund Market Information Ltd, the fore-runner of Lipper FMI.
